Former West Liberty professor Dr. Robert Godfrey established this scholarship in 2002 to encourage academic achievement among accounting majors.
Godfrey was the Chair of the Accounting Department from 1961 to 1975, and he taught courses such as cost analysis, accounting, data processing, and corporate finance. He went on to teach at Marshall University, where he also served as the accounting chair until his retirement in 1997.
He earned his Bachelor of Administration and Bachelor of Science in Education from Bowling Green State in 1958 and 1959, respectively. He received his master’s in Business Administration from Ohio University in 1961 and his Ph.D. from Ohio State in 1977.
