Hazlett A. “Haze” Cochran was a Wheeling native and graduate of West Liberty State College. He was a newspaperman for over 10 years working for the Wheeling News-Register and The Intelligencer. He became a public relations Executive at Falgreen and Associates in Parkersburg, W.Va. and went on to work at Consolidation Coal Company as Vice President, Director of Corporate Public Relations. This scholarship was established following Mr. Cochran’s death to benefit students with an interest in Journalism.
Minimum Requirements for Consideration and Renewal
- Preference for a student minoring in Journalism with consideration for students with a major in the Department of Media and Visual Arts if the recipient with a minor in Journalism is not identified
- 3.0 GPA
