Physician Assistant Scholarship

BACKGROUND

 

In 2020, multiple donors came together to raise funds to establish an endowed scholarship for students pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Dr. Howard Shackelford and Dr. Robert Wetzel both provided lead gifts. The scholarship was officially endowed and able to award during the spring of 2022.

 

USES AND PURPOSES

The Physician Assistant Scholarship has been created to financially aid any students pursuing their Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. The amount and number of scholarships awarded will be based on the income available in the fund.

 

Minimum Requirements for Consideration

• Preference to second year student (s) in the PA Program
• Preference to WV, OH, or PA resident
• Preference to First generation students and/or military veterans
• Financial Need with preference to economically disadvantaged students (as designated on CASPA)
• Preference to students from a rural area (as designated on CASPA)
• Must agree to serve in WV, OH, or PA for at least one year after graduation
• Current student loan dept will be taken into consideration
