Leah Gracey Campbell Math Education Scholarship

The Leah Gracey Campbell Mathematics Education Scholarship was established by Leah Gracey Campbell in 2001 through a bequest in her will. Mrs. Campbell graduated in 1939 from West Liberty State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in math. She married Kenneth D. Campbell in August of 1940. She later graduated with a master’s degree from West Virginia University. In 1977, the West Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics presented Mrs. Campbell with their Distinguished Service Award recognizing her contributions to Mathematics in the State of West Virginia. Mrs. Campbell retired from Weir High School where she taught algebra, plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. She was also employed at Weirton Heights Elementary school. 

 

Mrs. Campbell retired from Weir High School where she taught algebra, plane and solid geometry, trigonometry and calculus. She was also employed at Weirton Heights Elementary School.

 

A student majoring in mathematics education will be awarded with a scholarship of $750.00 per year ($375 per semester).

 

Requirements:

  • Eligible applicants must be the top math education student (based on ACT and/or SAT and GPA).

 

To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must:

  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA (evaluated annually)
  • Remain enrolled on a full-time basis
