This fund has been established in loving memory of Dorothy Long by her brother Howard Long and his wife Wendy.
Miss Long was a senior nursing student at Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing at the time of her death in 1980. Miss Long was a mature of faith when she changed her career to nursing. She achieved the status of Licensed Practical Nurse prior to her pursuit of education to qualify as a Registered Nurse.
The nursing program at Ohio Valley Medical Center was phased out in the late 1980’s and a cooperative arrangement was established between the medical center and West Liberty State College at that time.
Minimum Requirements for Consideration:
– Applicants must:
- Be a sophomore or junior at West Liberty University majoring in nursing
- Be a full-time student
- Have a college GPA of 2.5 or above
- Submit a letter of recommendation from clergy
Potential recipients must submit applications and letters of recommendation to the program director, nursing department by February 1 of each year. The nursing department will review applications.
