BACKGROUND
This scholarship fund was established in August 2018 in memory of Scot Malson. The initial donation to establish the fund was made by family and friends after Scot passed away suddenly on July 23, 2018 at age 40. Scot was originally from West Alexander, PA and was living in Wheeling, WV at the time of his passing. He graduated from West Liberty State College in 2000 with a BS in Nursing and went on to a successful career in nursing, eventually earning his Masters Degree in Nursing and becoming Nursing Director for Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling. He was later promoted to Chief Nursing Officer.
Scot continued to give back to West Liberty University throughout his lifetime by serving on the Community Advisory Board for the Nursing Program. This scholarship fund will help future WLU students pursing a Nursing Degree in Scott’s name.
