This fund is being established by Larry V. (‘80) and Paula K. (‘72) Moore, both West Liberty State College graduates. Larry and Paula met and fell in love while they were students at West Liberty State College. Although Paula graduated in 1972, Larry was not able to earn his degree until 1980 because he had to work throughout his college years, even taking several semesters off to earn money to support his family and pay for college/ As the oldest of six brothers, he had no help from his family with his education.
One way Larry helped make ends meet during college was working as an evening supervisor in the College Union. H.D. Jones, Director of the Union, became very fond of Larry and Paula over those years. “A struggling Vietnam vet, Larry came to me looking for employment to supplement his government stipend to attend West Liberty State College full time. His starting wage was $2.00 per hour,” Jones said.
Since graduating, Larry has built a very successful banking career, and he and his family now reside in Lakeside, FL. Larry and Paula have been married for 26 years, have two sons and are active in their church and other activities.
