This fund was established by Jane Atkins Sargent, a 1963 graduate of West Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene and her husband, William.
One scholarship will be awarded to an individual pursuing an Associate or a Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene at West Liberty University. The amount awarded will be based on income available within the endowment.
Requirements:
- Students must complete the scholarship application
- Applications must be members of the Student American Dental Hygiene Association
- Applicants must be pursuing either an Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene
- Students must demonstrate financial need
- Students must have completed a minimum of 64 hours of study toward their degree during the semester that they apply for the scholarship
Criteria for selection shall include a student who demonstrates the following:
- Strong academic performance
- Clinical proficiency for the level in which they are enrolled
- Demonstration of professionalism and ethical behavior in the classroom and clinic
- Demonstrates compassion and caring for patients in the clinic environment
Specification
- All the applications must be completed and returned by the deadline date
- Awarded monies are to be used for institutional-related expenditures only
- All applications must be neatly completed with the essay typed
