Alfred R. de Jaager served as the Director of Choral Activities at West Liberty State College starting in 1966. In the past, he has served as Chairman of the Department of Music, Chairman of the Department of Art, and served as Interim Chairman of the Department of Arts and Communications. He is a Life Member of the American Choral Directors Association, having served several terms as State President for West Virginia and thirteen years as state newsletter editor. In 2002 he received the American Choral Directors Association Award for Excellence and also received the 2006 Professor of the Year Award from West Liberty State College Student Government Association.
One or more incoming freshman with a music related major will receive an annual scholarship with an amount to be determined by the income from the endowment.
Requirements: Eligible students must be entering into a music related major with a high school cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a score of 20 on the ACT or 950 on the SAT. Students must pass WLSC music program audition requirements to apply. Financial aid is not mandatory but will be considered. A FAFSA form will be required to be considered for financial need.
