James Paul Frum Scholarship

Background

In 2020, James ‘Jim’ and Carol Frum established a scholarship to financially assist students enrolled in the WLU Speech Pathology and Audiology Program. Jim graduated from West Liberty State College in 1961 and went onto West Virginia University where he earned a MS degree in speech pathology and audiology. He also holds a certificate of clinical competence in both speech pathology and audiology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and past president and founding member of the West Virginia Speech, Language and Hearing Association.

Jim has been a constant supporter of WLU and is past president of the WLU Alumni Association Board of Directors, a past member of the WLU Board of Governors, and a current member of the WLU Foundation Board. He was also an adjunct assistant professor of speech pathology at WLU. Frum developed the department of audiology at Wheeling Clinic and initiated the department of audiology at Wheeling Hospital and Ohio Valley Medical Center. His wife, Carol, is also a West Liberty State College graduate and former director of the dental hygiene program.
