Judith Bartell Paesani Vocal Music Scholarship

In 2019, Judy and Andy Paesani established this scholarship fund for students majoring in voice, as a tribute to Judy’s love of singing and to her mother, Aldene Miller Bartell, who fostered that love.

Judy fondly remembers when her father (Joe Bartell) was on the road to West Liberty athletic games and the family did not have access to another vehicle, she and her mother would spend evenings singing. In high school, Judy sang in choruses and church choirs and at many weddings. In college at West Liberty, she sang with Campus Reverie Girls, directed by Helen Elbin, wife of the West Liberty President Paul Elbin.

In her adult life, Judy sung with church choirs and choruses in Iowa, Connecticut, and North Carolina. To this day, she carries on the tradition by her mother by singing in the Thursday Music Club Chorus and the Christ United Methodist Church Choir.

The Judith Bartell Paesani Vocal Music Scholarship has been created to financially aid students majoring in Voice. The amount ad number of scholarships awarded will be based on the spendable income available in the fund. The scholarship is available to students entering as a freshman or upper classman if the Department deems the student worthy. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years.

Requirements: Current or incoming student must be majoring in Voice and a good academic standing. There is no GPA requirement, but students wishing to renew will maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA in Music. Preference may be given to certain voice types as needed.
