BACKGROUND
In 1982, West Liberty State College, received a bequest of $20,000 from the estate of Mildred Boggess with the intent that interest from the principal be used to fund scholarships for the Music Department. Mildred’s son Charles was a professor of Music at West Liberty State College for many years.
USES AND PURPOSES
The Endowed Music Scholarship has been created to financially aid students enrolled in majors in the Music Department. The amount of the yearly scholarship and number of recipients will be based on income available in the fund. The scholarship may be renewed.
Minimum Requirements for Consideration:
- Enrolled as a major in the Music Department.
- 3.0 GPA
Selection of Recipients:
The selection process will be overseen by the Chair of the Department of Music with input from the Director of Financial Aid and Music Department Faculty members as needed. If the fund should grow considerably and have capacity to support multiple scholarships at once, additional students can be considered.
