The “Pallottini Memorial Scholarship for Outstanding Professional Promise in Dental Hygiene” was established by Patti and Nick Sparachane in memory of Patti’s parents Dottie and Del Pallottoni. Patti is a 1975 graduate of the Dental Hygiene Program and continues to practice as a dental hygienist with William and Pete Sapon, DDS. Nick also graduated from West Liberty State College in 1975, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management. He is the former mayor of Wheeling, the senior vice-president of Acordia Insurance, and the vice-chair of Undo Family Restaurants.
They have been married for over 23 years and have five children Nicole, Robin, Lauren, Nick, and Angela. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to and recognitions for a Dental Hygiene student who demonstrates a strong work ethic and professional promise, possesses good interpersonal and technical skills, and is supportive of his or her fellow classmates within the dental hygiene program.
One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to one dental hygiene student. The scholarship will be divided equally between the 3rd and 4th semester of the Associate Program.
Requirements:
- Eligible applicants must be a full-time student majoring in Dental Hygiene in the second semester of their associate degree program.
- Applicants must complete the written application.
- Consideration will be given to those who demonstrate financial need and who demonstrate outstanding clinical proficiency, good patient skills, and outstanding professionalism.
