This fund was established with initial gifts made on behalf of his children and in honor of R. Clark Morton (‘53) on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Mr. Morton, who served as a member of the West Liberty State College Foundation, is a partner in the Wheeling, WV law firm of Herndon, Morton, Herndon and Yaeger.
He is a past president of the West Liberty State College Alumni Association and has been inducted into the College’s Wall of Honor. He is a member of the board of directors of Progressive Bank. He serves on the Wheeling Municipal Auditorium and Parking Board. Following his graduation from West Liberty, Mr. Morton received a law degree from Georgetown University. He and his wife Patricia resided in Wheeling. They have two sons, two daughters, and three grandchildren.
Students that are actively recruited members of the Men’s Intercollegiate Basketball Team will be chosen to receive a scholarship. The amount and the duration of the scholarships will be determined by the team’s coach, based on the available income.
Requirements:
- Eligible applicants must be recruited to play on the West Liberty Men’s Basketball team.
Acceptance/maintaining eligibility
- Students who accept the scholarship must sign an acknowledgement/acceptance letter.
- Remain a full-time student and active participant on the Men’s Intercollegiate Basketball Team (Medical red shirt would retain scholarship support).
- If a student becomes ineligible or leaves the college, a new recipient may be identified, at the discretion of the coach.
