BACKGROUND
This scholarship was established in 2019 by the Tri-State Dental Hygienists’ Association to reward a student pursuing their Master’s Degree in Dental Hygiene at West Liberty University.
The Tri-State Dental Hygienists’ Association was organized in September 1999. This organization is a component of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and the West Virginia Dental Hygienists’ Association.
The purposes of the association are to cultivate, promote, and sustain the art and science of dental hygiene, to represent and safeguard the common interest of the members of the dental hygiene profession, to contribute toward the improvement of the health of the public, to contribute toward the advancement of dental hygiene education, and to conduct other activities as may be permitted by the State of West Virginia to carry out the purposes of this Association.
The mission of the Tri-State Dental Hygienists’ Association is to advance the art and science of dental hygiene by increasing the awareness of and ensuring access to quality oral health care, promoting the highest standards of dental hygiene education, licensure and practice, and representing and promoting the interests of dental hygienists.
USES AND PURPOSES
The income from this fund will be used to provide an annual scholarship award to a recipient who meets the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in the Master’s of Science in Dental Hygiene Program with at least six credit hours completed prior to submission of scholarship application (March 31st of each year).
- Submit an essay to the group explaining why membership in your professional organization is important and explaining your involvement in ADHA since beginning membership.
