Roberta Raymond, who graduated from West Liberty State College in 1978 with a BSN in Nursing, established this fund in memory of her late husband, C. Tim Meighen. The fund was initially established in 2018 to build a foundation for the future receipt of a gift from Roberta’s estate, which she made the WLU Foundation aware of in June of 2018.
Future plans include endowment of the scholarship fund after it reaches the minimum amount to endow. Although Tim spent his career with the Air Force and the U.S. Department of State, he dreamed of becoming a band director. Roberta would like this scholarship to go toward a student majoring in Music for that reason. Tim’s music career started when he played saxophone in the Union High School Marching Band (Benwood, WV).
He then went on to play the organ for services at the base chapel in Pleiku, Vietnam when he was stationed there during his Air Force career. He was also a member of the Cambridge City Band, Cambridge Ohio and played with the Vince Villanova Band.
