This fund is being established utilizing the funds donated in memory of Elmer Frederick Dietz of Wheeling, who passed away in August of 1997. Mr. Dietz was a distinguished individual and friend of West Liberty State College. He was very active in many College organizations, including: Member of the Board of the Foundation, Founding member and former vice president of the Hilltopper Club and charter member of the President’s Circle. He was an outstanding football player at WLSC and long-term financial supporter of WLSC athletics.
The initial funding for the endowment is being provided by gifts made by friends and family at the time of Elmer’s death as well as funds generated at a fundraising event held in Elmer’s memory by the Saints and Sinners Club of Wheeling. The fund may continue to be enhanced with gifts from family and friends.
The scholarship will be awarded at a rate of $500 per semester for a period of up to four years per recipient ($4,000 maximum). Students must qualify for admission to West Liberty.
Requirements
- Income from this fund will be used to provide scholarships to incoming students who are actively recruited for participation on the intercollegiate football team.
Maintain Eligibility:
- Maintain academic and athletic eligibility.
- Eligibility will be monitored by the Athletic Department on a semester-by-semester basis.
