This scholarship was established by Aurelia and Vern Reed and named to honor Aurelia’s parents. The Hauch (pronounced Howk) family came to the United States from Austria and settled in Warwood, West Virginia. John Hauch, their father, was a bricklayer who helped build Elbin Library and Krise Hall. He and his wife Maria, valued higher education and all six of their children went on to have successful lives. Two of their daughters received scholarships and proudly attained education degrees from West Liberty.
This scholarship is provided to a West Liberty Student who exemplifies a love for learning and a desire to share that love for learning with elementary school students.
The Hauch Family Scholarship has been created to financially aid students pursuing an Elementary Education degree. The amount and number of yearly scholarships will be based on the income available in the fund for distribution. The scholarship is designed to aid incoming freshman students and can be renewed for one year.
Requirements: The student(s) must major in Elementary Education. To renew for sophomore year, the student must maintain a 3.2 GPA.
