In 2020, James ‘Jim’ and Carol Frum established a scholarship to financially assist students enrolled in the WLU Speech Pathology and Audiology Program. Jim graduated from West Liberty State College in 1961 and went onto West Virginia University where he earned a MS degree in speech pathology and audiology. He also holds a certificate of clinical competence in both speech pathology and audiology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and past president and founding member of the West Virginia Speech, Language and Hearing Association.
Jim has been a constant supporter of WLU and is past president of the WLU Alumni Association Board of Directors, a past member of the WLU Board of Governors, and a current member of the WLU Foundation Board. He was also an adjunct assistant professor of speech pathology at WLU. Frum developed the department of audiology at Wheeling Clinic and initiated the department of audiology at Wheeling Hospital and Ohio Valley Medical Center. His wife, Carol, is also a West Liberty State College graduate and former director of the dental hygiene program.
Requirements
The James Paul Frum Scholarship has been created to financially aid students majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology. The amount and number of scholarships awarded will be based on the spendable income available in the fund. The scholarship is available to students entering their junior or senior year.
Minimum requirements for consideration:
- Current student majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology
- Good academic standing
- Interest in enrolling in WLU Master’s of Science in Speech Language Pathology Program
