Dr. Lawerence H. “Larry” Talley established this scholarship upon his passing in 2016 through an estate gift of over $800,000, the third-largest gift received by the West Liberty University Foundation. He was a former West Liberty chemistry professor, and the estate will fund four-year, full-ride scholarships for incoming students majoring in chemistry or biology.In addition to professor, Talley also served as West Liberty’s Dean of the school of Science and Mathematics, Academic Vice-President and as the college’s interim president in 1984. He retired in 1993 before he traveled to San Diego to volunteer at the Scripps-Howard Institute.
One four-year scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in chemistry at West Liberty University.
Requirements:
- Eligible applicants must have a declared major in Chemistry at West Liberty University
- Cumulative GPA, ACT and/or SAT test scores, class rank at high school graduation
- A letter of recommendation will all be taken into consideration
