This scholarship was established by family and friends in honor of E. Nelson Cain, a thirty-five year employee of West Liberty State College. Most notable during his years as Registrar, Nelson Cain’s top priority was the students; he went to great lengths to help any student in need. Nelson Cain came to West Liberty State College as Assistant Director of Admissions, previously serving as a teacher and counselor at Paden City High School. He went on to serve as Registrar, Executive Assistant to the President, and Vice President of Administration prior to his retirement.
