Former West Liberty professor Dr. Robert Godfrey established this scholarship in 2002 to encourage academic achievement among accounting majors. Godfrey was the Chair of the Accounting Department from 1961 to 1975, and he taught courses such as cost analysis, accounting, data processing, and corporate finance. He went on to teach at Marshall University, where he also served as the accounting chair until his retirement in 1997. He earned his Bachelor of Administration and Bachelor of Science in Education from Bowling Green State in 1958 and 1959, respectively. He received his master’s in Business Administration from Ohio University in 1961 and his Ph. D. from Ohio State in 1977.
One junior student with the 2nd highest grade point average in the accounting program with financial assistance that can be applied to his or her tuition, room and board, and/or books. If more than one student is eligible for this award based on the grade point average, preference will be given to the candidate who is employed or is active in student activities.
Requirements:
- Eligible applicants must be a junior accounting student who has earned the second highest GPA in the program.
- In the event that more than one student is eligible, preference will be given to the student who is employed or involved in campus activities.
