In 2019, Judy and Andy Paesani established this scholarship fund for students majoring in voice, as a tribute to Judy’s love of singing and to her mother, Aldene Miller Bartell, who fostered that love.
Judy fondly remembers when her father (Joe Bartell) was on the road to West Liberty athletic games and the family did not have access to another vehicle, she and her mother would spend evenings singing. In high school, Judy sang in choruses and church choirs and at many weddings. In college at West Liberty, she sang with Campus Reverie Girls, directed by Helen Elbin, wife of the West Liberty President Paul Elbin.
In her adult life, Judy sung with church choirs and choruses in Iowa, Connecticut, and North Carolina. To this day, she carries on the tradition by her mother by singing in the Thursday Music Club Chorus and the Christ United Methodist Church Choir.
