BACKGROUND
This scholarship was established in Ellen’s name by her husband Dr. Ade Neidermeyer to recognize the important role nursing played in her life and in their early married life. Both Ellen and Ade were born and raised in Marshall County, West Virginia. Ellen graduated from Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing in 1964 and worked in various hospital settings as an RN while Ade pursued his higher degrees. Ellen found very satisfying and rewarding nursing positions in West Virginia, Ohio, and Iowa. West Liberty University provided her with the opportunity to receive a BS in Nursing in 1979 and she then continued her education with a master’s degree at WVU. These degrees offered opportunities to research several gerontology issues.
Ellen hopes that this scholarship will assist another nursing student to find the same rewards that West Liberty University provided to her.
