William “Bill” J. Dolan, Sr. was a 1975 graduate of West Liberty State College, where he served as assistant business manager and late personnel manager until his passing in 1990. This scholarship was established in his honor in 2014. Dolan was married to 1980 West Liberty graduate Mary Claire Johnson-Dolan. Several of their 12 children attended West Liberty. Bill Jr. took teaching certification and MBA prerequisites at the college while also teaching food service management.
Peggy received a Bachelor of Arts in French in 1976. John graduated in 1978 with a BS in Business Administration with an accounting specialization, and his wife Kim graduated with a dental hygiene degree. Mary, Pat, Katy, and Steve briefly attended West Liberty, and while Dan did not attend, his wife Janet graduated in 1981. Bernie attended from 1979 to 1981 and again in 1984; he was on the track team during the 1980-81 school year.
Requirements
One incoming freshman will be selected every four years to receive an four-year scholarship. The amount of the scholarship shall be $500 per year ($250 per semester) for a total of $2,000 over four years.
- Be entering with a declared major within the School of Business
- Have a high school GPA of at least 3.0 and a minimum ACT score of 21
- Be a graduate of Wheeling Park High School or Wheeling Central Catholic High School
- Have been actively involved in extracurricular activities and/or athletics while in high school
Maintain Eligibility
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA (evaluated manually)
- Remain in a qualifying major and be enrolled on a full-time basis
