Mr. Don Seamon was a resident of this region for many years. When he became sick, his wife, daughters, and daughters-in-law (who were all nurses) provided nursing care for him at home until his death. This scholarship is being established in his memory to assist a student seeking a nursing degree at West Liberty.
Uses and Purposes:
This is a $250-500 per semester scholarship given to a full-time sophomore, junior or senior nursing students based on financial need. The amount of the award shall vary based upon the fund-raising results each year. The student must maintain good academic standing in the Nursing Program, 3.0 GPA or higher. Its primary purpose is to pay for tuition, fees, room and board, textbooks, etc. Preference is given to students from Wetzel, Marshall, Ohio, Brooke, and Hancock Counties in West Virginia, also students that pay the metro-rate tuition to WLU. The recipient shall be selected by the Nursing Program Faculty.
Requirements:
- Eligible students must be a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior nursing student that presents financial need.
- Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Preference will be given to students who reside in the Northern Panhandle and any county that falls under the metro rate.
