This scholarship was established by Aurelia and Vern Reed and named to honor Aurelia’s parents. The Hauch (pronounced Howk) family came to the United States from Austria and settled in Warwood, West Virginia. John Hauch, their father, was a bricklayer who helped build Elbin Library and Krise Hall. He and his wife Maria valued higher education and all six of their children went on to have successful lives. Two of their daughters received scholarships and proudly attained education degrees from West Liberty.
This scholarship is provided to a West Liberty Student who exemplifies a love for learning and a desire to share that love for learning with elementary school students.
